Introducing the Chandos Lake Outstanding Contributor Award

 

In 2023, the CLPOA board introduced the Chandos Lake Outstanding Contributor Award to recognize volunteers’ significant contributions to Chandos Lake.
Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the lake’s health and the overall social experience enjoyed by everyone. Their efforts, contribute to numerous initiatives that enhance the lake experience.
The Board expresses gratitude to all volunteers for their enthusiastic and tireless efforts, which significantly contribute to the well-being of Chandos Lake.

 

For the 2025 Award, please submit nominations by March 15, 2025 by email to secretaryclpoa@gmail.com. As part of your submission please include supporting information.

 

Award Criteria
The Chandos Lake Outstanding Contributor Award is designed to honour CLPOA members who have demonstrated exceptional long-term volunteer leadership in support of CLPOA’s core priorities. These priorities include maintaining water quality, ensuring lake safety, fostering community through social and recreational events, and enhancing member communications.

 

Recipients
At the 2023 AGM – King Baker and Kathy Robichaud were announced as the inaugural recipients. They were presented with beautifully engraved Canadian handmade maple paddles at the Chandos Lake Volunteer Social and will also be featured in the CLPOA Yearbook and receive complimentary CLPOA membership. We extend our sincere congratulations to King Baker and Kathy Robichaud and express our gratitude to all volunteers who continue to make Chandos Lake a vibrant and thriving community.

Jim O’Shea

Congratulations goes out to Jim O’Shea as the second annual recipient of the Chandos Lake Outstanding Contributor Award.

This Award was created to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through long term volunteer leadership in support of the CLPOA’s top priorities.

Jim is indeed an outstanding contributor to our lake: whether through his fourteen-year term as previous president of the CLPOA, his outstanding contributions to the yearbook, or his impactful championing of a range of environmental issues to improve the health of our waters and shorelines, Jim was unanimously approved to receive this recognition for his long-standing and varied volunteer efforts.

Thank you, Jim for your many years of support! We look forward to presenting Jim with the Paddle Award at the CLPOA Volunteer Appreciation Social on Saturday August 17th

King Baker

King pioneered environmental awareness at Chandos Lake in the early 1990’s. He joined the board as Lake Steward and has been a passionate educator, initiator & supporter of numerous environmental programs for more than 30 years.

Kathy Robichaud

Kathy played a pivotal role in organizing new and recurring Chandos Lake social events, ensuring support from volunteers of all age groups. She was a highly regarded Board member, her contributions have been instrumental in nurturing a robust sense of community for over two decades.
