CLPOA Kids’ Fishing Derby

As you know the Kids’ Fishing Derby on Chandos Lake is coming very soon. This summer our fun day will take place on Saturday, July 4th, 2026. Our derby is a wonderful event for children between 4 and 12 years of age with prizes for the kids, entertainment and conservation education by Reptilia Zoo, local displays, hot dogs, and so much more.

Every year has been very successful with up to 120 children attending. Our goal is to make the 2026 Kids’ Fishing Derby the best ever so bring the kids out to Lakeview Marina and meet our guests from Reptilia Zoo sponsored by Clark Bruels, Remax Country Classics Limited.

Create long-lasting memories at this fun-filled day that includes:

• Prizes for the longest fish in each of the categories: 
  • Lake Trout
  • Pike
  • Largemouth Bass
  • Smallmouth Bass
  • Perch
  • And the greatest weight of combined Pan Fish (Rock Bass, Sunfish, etc.)
• Entertainment for the kids when they return from fishing at 11:00 AM provided by Clark Breuls, Re/Max.

Participants receive:

• A loot bag
• T-shirt
• Lunch (Others may purchase a lunch from CLPOA BBQ Volunteers)

Participants must be between 4-12 years of age on July 4th, 2026 and accompanied by a responsible adult.

Location: Lakeview Cottages & Marina – 176 Lakeview Crescent, Chandos Lake

Date: Sat. July 4th, 2026 (Rain or Shine)

Check-in: 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Fishing: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (Catch must be presented at the measurement or weigh-in table before 11:00 AM)

Followed by Lunch, a group photo, and the presentation of prizes.

This is a Catch & Release Tournament. All game fish must be presented ALIVE at the measurement table in a self-provided container.

In addition to the adults accompanying children, this event would not happen without the dedication and creativity of many volunteers. We need a few volunteers to set up on Friday night, many volunteers on Saturday to register the kids, measure fish, shuttle people to boats, clean up, take pictures, and so much more.
