CLPOA Fireworks Display

From its beginnings on Canada Day 2010 – organized by Robert Telka off their cottage dock – the annual CLPOA Fireworks Display has grown to be a spectacular event that draws people from around the Lake and the surrounding community, and elicits comments such as…

It was a fantastic show & fantastic night floating on the water watching. We were thrilled to be part of this community event!

The show is designed and presented by BEM one of Canada’s top pyrotechnical companies and overseen by the Township of North Kawartha Fire Services and the OPP to ensure safety.

Location: Chandos Beach

Date: Saturday, August 3, rain date Sunday August 4. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or a fire ban, we will attempt to reschedule early in September.

Time: starting between 9:00 and 9:30 pm

  • Cottagers will be encouraged to attend the event by boat or watch it at cottages close to the beach. No spectators will be allowed on the beach and the boat launch area.
  • Please leave your outdoor cottage lights on, no matter where on the Lake you’re located, so the hundreds of boats can safely navigate their return trip to their cottages after the show.

With one major show on the Lake for the enjoyment of all, that’s safe and better for the environment, the CLPOA hopes to encourage cottagers to cancel their own fireworks throughout the summer. And instead, consider donating the money they would have spent to help offset CLPOA costs and make the show even more spectacular!

The Township of North Kawartha has enacted By-law 2021-0118 which prohibits the setting off Consumer Fireworks within the Township except on 5 occasions during the calendar year. Please refer to the By-law for information on the regulation of fireworks. Our Fireworks Event meets all of the conditions stated in the By-law. To help with offsetting the cost of the Event, we are inviting donations from cottagers, community merchants and businesses, contractors.  We are also looking for volunteers to help the Fireworks Committee make the show an exciting and memorable event.  Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can send an email to clpoa.fireworks@gmail.com.

If you’d prefer to donate via e-transfer, please e-transfer donations to clpoa.fireworks@gmail.com.
