The cottagers association was first brought together in the late 1940s when there were still relatively few summer residences on the lake. The first three presidents, Roy Parsons (1947-50), Stan Reid (1951-53) and Art Young (1954-56) worked together to recruit others from around the lake to share their mutual interests and bring their concerns about water quality and boating safety to the attention of the local council. Ernest Balmer was the first secretary.

 

One of their original projects was to urge the municipality to establish more convenient garbage disposal sites to discourage littering and control lake pollution levels…
